Awesome Illustrator Tutorial #1: Retro Triangular Design
This is the first post of my “Awesome Tutorial” series. I am going to take you along with me as I learn how to use some really awesome graphic design software, like Adobe Illustrator! Wondering why I’m talking about graphic design on a music blog? Check out 5 Reasons for Musicians to Learn Graphic Design!
This is what you will be making in this Illustrator tutorial:
It is pretty simple but you wind up with a really cool and very useful design. Don’t feel like you have to do things exactly the way he tells you, feel free to use different colors, or even make smaller shapes. Also, he uses Photoshop at the end, if you don’t have Photoshop or want to keep it as a vector you can just import his texture and bring down the opacity.
I didn’t have many problems working through this. The one thing I ran into, it could have been my fault, but some of the triangles were un-selectable. To work around this I made a rectangle over the whole thing and picked a fill color that I hadn’t used much and put it under everything else, so it filled in all the white triangles.
Overall this is a pretty awesome Illustrator tutorial! To see the full Illustrator tutorial click here!
