Awesome Illustrator Tutorial #3: Letterpress Effect
I love Illustrator, but sometimes it can be hard to get nice looking effects out of it. One way to make a simple (even boring) text or icon look really nice is to add an embossed letterpress effect. I have been wanting to learn this for a while, and now I’ve found a great tutorial on how to do it!
Here is what you will be making:
This is a pretty simple Illustrator tutorial, but there are some things to watch out for. He doesn’t give much info as to what colors he is using or what size font. These are pretty important factors in order to create the right effect. On the other hand, it helps the learning process to be forced to experiment a little, so no harm done.
This is a quick tutorial, but one thing that I thought was really awesome about this one was the end. The author suggests saving the effect as a Graphic Style so that you can re-use it. I think that is a great idea and I am going to start doing that with all of my effects!
Hope you guys get some use out of this little letterpress effect! I know I will!
