Awesome Illustrator Tutorial #5: Vintage Logo
This Awesome Illustrator Tutorial is pretty quick and easy, but there are loads of tips and tricks to pick up in this great tutorial video!
William Paterson isn’t a youtube mega uploader with millions of subscribers, but he should be! He makes loads of great videos showcasing great effects and design principals. If you can handle trying to learn new design skills and a new language (William has a pretty thick accent thats quite entertaining, but I’ve found myself rewinding pretty often) subscribe to his channel!
This was a pretty easy tutorial, but there are a few things you should pay attention to.
He talks fast and uses lots of shortcuts! If you’re like me and don’t use a lot of shortcuts it can be hard to keep up. I encourage you to try them out though, I learned a lot of new habits working through this tutorial and lots of new shortcuts.
If you aren’t familiar with the type on path tool in illustrator, you may run into some wackiness there. Check out this video for some tips!
The finishing touches are where I got the most out of this tutorial. Using the “Roughen” tool to make the type look a little more like a vintage screen print or letterpress is something I’d never seen before, and I will definitely be using that alot! Pay attention to the textures too, texture choice and placement can make or break a good design!
Overall this was a great Illustrator tutorial and I really enjoyed working through it! Just be ready to do some rewinding!
