So, as you can see, there is a lot of potential for this to be very useful in some like a wintery gig poster or a Christmas album cover. Even if you go with a more grungy color scheme rather than the normal red Christmas colors it will still look cool!
The main thing in this Photoshop tutorial is making the selections for the snow. He says to use the magic lasso tool to do that. I’m not sure if that worked in older versions of Photoshop but it wasn’t leaving any room for expression as far as how the snow piled up. So I just used the regular lasso tool and it worked fine.
Another thing that he did was using alpha channels and kind of awkward selection fills. I don’t honestly see the need for this. I think you can just fill the selection as-is, after you make a good selection. The look really comes from the effects.
