A Cosy Christmas in Cornwall Review
A lovely easy Christmassy read - perfect escapism for anyone looking for a cosy read
Such a lovely , happy read . Hope there will be a sequel . Loved all the different characters
Im sold on any character who, when you first meet them is talking to their dog. Merwyn is the perfect companion who empathises with Ivy at the same time prepared to offer an eye-roll when needed. Some of the subplots of infidelity, redundancy, a horde of children *shivers* and the demands of social media would normally be hard hitters in a romance book, but the humour of Jane Linfoots storytelling makes them a lighter read. Bill/Will or Will/Bill is a perfect grouch with a hidden past that Ivy uncovers, but from the start, its easy to see he has a soft centre, Merwyn can vouch for that. With the arrival of various family and friends, the quirks of an old castle bring them together and enjoy the holidays without their phones in front of their faces, take time to look out for each other and discover that they arent as superficial as they might seem. As always, my thanks to #Netgalley and publisher #OneMoreChapter for giving me the opportunity to read #ACosyChristmasInCornwall.
This book gives us across the pond a brief glimpse as to how the Christmas holidays are spent in a small town in England. British terminology, traditions, as well as some food choices surrounding Christmas are very unique while others I think most Americans are familiar with. But no matter the differences, what remains true is attraction, love, and getting along with family and friends, new and old ones alike. Id love the opportunity to celebrate Christmas in a castle and maybe find my knight in (mostly) shining armor, too! I received an arc from NetGalley in exchange for my volunteer review.
I was in the mood for a festive, humorous and sweet Christmas story and this was the perfect match. I loved the quirky and well written cast of characters and the lovely setting that made me wish to be there. The plot is cute, engrossing and entertaining. It was an excellent reading experience, highly recommended! Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
