About The Perfect Sister
You dont know me, but Im your sister.
Claire is shocked when she receives a message out of the blue from Sophie, a beautiful young woman who tells Claire that shes their fathers secret child. Having spent years nursing her sweet little daughter Ella through a life-threatening illness whilst dealing with the emotional fall-out of a devastating marriage breakdown, Claire feels tentatively excited to meet Sophie. Perhaps she might finally have someone in the family to lean on
As Claire welcomes her sister into her life, shes delighted to see just how much Ella loves her new Aunt Sophie. But as the pair spend more time together, Claire begins to wonder where exactly her perfect new sister came from and what kind of person she really is. With their elderly fathers mind rapidly deteriorating, is it possible that hes hiding something from Claire about Sophies sudden appearance in their lives?
When Sophie suggests a family day at the seaside, little Ella is beyond excited. But as Claire takes an important phone call from her demanding ex-husband, leaving Sophie in charge of Ella, something unthinkable happens. And as Claire rushes into the ice-cold sea towards the small, limp figure of her daughter, she realises that Sophie was watching the whole time. But why would Sophie want to hurt Claires precious daughter? Was trusting her new sister with Ella the biggest mistake of Claires life?

The Perfect Sister Review
This was a exciting book. I didn't want to put it down. It was very easy and quick to read. I loved the plot and how there were a few different stories that all wove together perfectly.
And what can I tell about The Perfect Sister? Well, mainly that its another great addition to my Sheryl Browne collection! Sheryl writes the most easy to read thrillers, and I mean that as a huge compliment, I cant just sit there and read slowly, I FLY through them. They are marketed as unputdownable and thats exactly what they are, this latest addition is no exception. As always, I got sucked in right away, raced through it, and before I realised it, Id reached the finale. The Perfect Sister is all about Claire, and Claire is struggling bigtime, her little girl has haemophilia and her dad has early onset dementia, leaving Claire between a rock and a hard place: as her dads sole caregiver, she and her family have moved in with him to be able to take better care of him, and keep tabs on him, but the situation, not to mention her dads violent outbursts, is beginning to weigh on her marriage. Enter Sophie, the half-sister Claire never even knew she had, but before long, its like Sophie has always been there, shes indispensable. Or is she? Lets not beat about the bush, were all clever readers here, when the title of a thriller is The Perfect Sister we all know said sister will be anything but perfect, yeah? We all realise from the get-go that the characters well be reading about will most probably be put through the ringer by this perfect family member, of course we do. The element of surprise is not in that, but there ARE elements of surprise, little twists along the way. I wont lie, I saw one of big twists coming very early on, but that didnt spoil my fun at all, if anything it was a reason to speed through the book even faster, to find out if I was right. Still, Sheryl did manage to catch me unawares with a few other things, so Im actually a very happy reader: I got to feel clever AND I was surprised, perfect! The Perfect Sister is a quick, fun read that Id happily recommend to all you thriller lovers out there!
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review(thank you @netgalley): Even though I knew where this book was going, I couldnt put it down, I wanted to know how it was going to get there. I was bit confused on how the book was wrapped up, but Id still recommend!
Claire and Luke's marriage is crumbling. Parents to daughter Ella rather takes second place to Claire's need to care for her father. He is suffering from Dementia and needs near constant care. Luke basically checks out of the marriage. Meanwhile, Luke runs into a woman who apparently needs his help. Oh how he wished he had just walked away. With a photo taken at a right time and delivered to Claire, she is certain Luke is having an affair. At the same time, a woman comes into Claire's life as well. She claims that she is her sister. With her father's ailment, Claire is unable to get the answers she needs. Claire all but falls apart. No worries. Her new friend, her sister, Sophie, is there to prop her up. So there you have it. Did he or didn't he? Are they really sisters? Well, The Perfect Sister is far more than that. It is a book full of lies, twists and turns as the book progresses. This is a book that will have you wanting to slap the main characters - Luke for falling into a woman's trap, Claire for believing a total stranger. Again, it is more than that. It is a convoluted story that dares the reader to put the book down for more than a few moments because you simply just do not know what is going to happen. The reader can quickly guess that Luke's stranger and Claire's sister must be one and the same. The fun part is watching them come to this realization. Can things be salvaged before it is too late? No doubt you will not be able to wonder as to what the end game is. And oh, what a conclusion! This was yet another excellent book by Sheryl Browne. I found it interesting that when I perused the previous books by Ms. Browne - The Second Wife, The Marriage Trap and The Affair - albeit different, I was reminded that they are all domestic thrillers. She has a very good formula, one that I look forward to partaking more of at the very next opportunity. Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
Totally twisted psychological drama spinning through until the final stunning turn! Just when you think you have it figured out another clue drops turning you in a different direction. Ends with a bang!

Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Kept me gripped and second guessing myself. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next! Recommend reading. I was provided an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. This is my own honest voluntary review.
What would you do if you felt like everything was crashing down and you felt you had found that one person you can confide in? Claire is having a tough time, with her father's health deteriorating due to his dementia, she moves her daughter, Ella and husband, Luke into her father's home to be able to care for him. This current arrangement is hard enough with little Ella's condition, to add on the unpredictable behavior her father, Benard is beginning to display the strain on Claire and Luke's marriage pushing it to the breaking point. When Luke begins drinking too much and has a weak moment at a pub out with the guys things go awry. Claire's best friend, Gemma catches a picture and alerts Claire. The woman Luke goes home with Anna becomes obsessed to say the least. All the while Claire is learning she has a half-sister she never knew about. Sophie and Claire begin to connect all the while Claire is searching for answers, from her father about Sophie, from herself regarding her marriage to Luke and from Sophie. But through this tangled web, exactly who can she put her trust in? Who's telling the truth and who's plan is too sinister to believe? This book was a rollercoaster, a good one at that. It was a bit of a slow build in the beginning with pops of climaxes in and out. The end, was wickedly sinister with a crash of so many things happening you literally cannot put it down when you get to those last few chapters. Sheryl Browne had a fabulously founded plot and took it through the roof with the ending. The last sentence confirms the lingering thoughts from earlier in the novel. At the end of the book you will have to sit and reflect on the epilogue, as for me I was in awe of the brilliance of the author for the strong finish. This is a very interesting book, each chapter is from one of the main characters to build a foundation and back story that reels you with just the right amount of details that you can picture yourself with those characters. I appreciated the writing style as it differed from a lot of novels of it's kind. I would absolutely recommend you pick up a copy of #ThePerfectSister on 01/29/2020.
The Perfect Sister by Sheryl Browne is another scintillating read from one of my now go-to authors! I have read 'The Marriage Trap' and 'The Second Wife' though I have yet to get around to The Affair and the The Babysitter. The Perfect Sister is a brilliant and dazzling story with plenty of mystery and suspense, though more of a domestic suspense novel rather than a psychological thriller. Full of secrets, no one escaped this story unscathed and the excitement and twists that I didn't predict made this novel interesting and unexpected. The chapters were short and snappy, giving me a dreadful case of just one more chapter syndrome. The different strands in this cleverly written story eventually come together at the end and I never saw the last twist in the tale. The unique way with the narrative that Sheryl Browne possesses made this spine-tingling and enthralling story stand out from many of the others in this genre. Thanks, Sheryl Browne for this fantastic book! I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel, at my request, from Bookouture via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.
As followers of my blog will be aware I am a dedicated fan of the wonderful Sheryl Browne. This is another totally awesome five-star psychological thriller. The gripping story is exciting with well-rounded characters. I did not read the synopsis as, of course, I know it will be a good book and I enjoy story unfolding as the author writes rather than the clues from the back page. This gripping domestic noir is told in alternating chapters of exceptionally developed characters. The story held my attention from the first page and I read it in a single day as it was such an easy read, well developed and planned with trademark curveball twists that Sheryl is an expert in! Sheryl writes such fantastic gritty thrillers it's almost worrying - but she does have a sweet loving Jack Russell at home so I know this side of her is all author talent rather than a lifestyle! Well, in my mind, you can't be a bad person if you are owned by a Jack Russell! If you are looking for a first book of 2020 then I sincerely advise you not to miss out on this - make it your first and you will get your reading year off to a great start. My sincere thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for an advanced readers copy of THE PERFECT SISTER by SHERYL BROWNE.All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway. All my reviews can be found on my blog momobookdiary.
Thank you Netgally for the advanced copy! I am 40% into the book and I just cant......I cant finish. I am not enjoying any of the characters and Claire...I find her annoying which as one of the main characters I actually should feel empathy towards. This is a DNF for me unfortunately.
I'm a fan of Sheryl Browne's books. I've read them all so far and they just keep getting better and better. She's a hidden gem. All of Sheryl's books grip you from the start and they are always unstoppable novels. Claire has it all. Perfect family. Perfect Husband. Perfect 4 year old daughter. Who could ask for anything more?! Unfortunately her father is sick with dementia and she receives a message from a woman claiming to be her half sister. She's thrilled. This book had me wanting more and I just couldn't put it down. I recommend it if you are a fan of Sheryl Browne's books and I recommend it even if you've never read any of her books.
This book had so many twists and turns sometimes it was hard to keep up!! But wow did it keep me guessing until the end. Just when I thought I had everything figured out - everything was turned around. I was captivated by all of the characters, kept guessing in what would happen next. I just could not put this book down.
This was a exciting book. I didn't want to put it down. It was very easy and quick to read. I loved the plot and how there were a few different stories that all wove together perfectly.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning until the surprising end. Claire and Luke are married and have a 4-year-old daughter, Ella. Claire's widowed father Bernard, who has dementia/Alzheimer, lives with them and she is his caregiver. Luke is out to the bar with his friends one night and meets Anna and the trouble begins. Claire receives a text from a woman named Sophie who claims to be her half-sister. This books takes on a lot of twists and turns and is told from different POVs. I did enjoy this book but I found the characters to be all very unlikeable. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this very interesting book in exchange for an honest review.
Truer words were never spoken than with the phrase Be Careful What You Wish For which is how I can best describe The Perfect Sister. Sheryl has crafted a tightly woven, thrilling plot where she gets you in her clutches and doesnt let you go until the final page. From the chilling prologue and the shocking first chapter, I was glued to the pages and knew I was going to be up reading this well into the early hours of the morning. Through bleary eyes, (which was my doing for starting this later in the night), I could not pull myself away and I just had to see how it was all going to unfold. I am pleased to report that I was not disappointed. What Sheryl has done with this story is really good, but for me I was more taken in with the ending which is genius and was a complete curve ball. I actually had to read it twice to let it really sink in. My hat goes off to Sheryl with this very wicked delightful twist! The characterisation is spot on in this story and they are a mixed bag of likeable and unlikeable ones. Created through great writing that brings them to life so well, each one plays out their role to the fullest. Although I cant really say I connected to any one in particular, I was able to feel all of the emotions that each one went through in their journey, which made them very believable and the story realistic. When I read a book from Sheryl, I always feel like I am a part of the story. I attribute this to her writing, which is always flawless, engaging, emotive and so visual. When I see that Sheryl has a new book coming out, everything in my life just stops when I get my hands on it and nothing can distract me from it. I am completely amazed at how her mind works and how with each book, she takes her wickedness up a notch. Dont be fooled with how sweet and innocent she looks, as her books are the complete opposite to this! There is never a dull moment, which is why I love them so much and what makes her a standout as one of my favourite authors. The Perfect Sister takes you on one hell of a ride and is another perfect example of Sheryl nailing the psychological thriller genre. She is a master in building up the tension and suspense in everything she creates and I cant wait to see what she comes up with next. Dont keep us waiting too long Sheryl! It was an absolute pleasure to read and review The Perfect Sister which I highly recommend. Thank-you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Sheryl Browne for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Perfect Sister which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Almost everything in this book fell flat for me. Everything was really predictable, I didn't connect to any of the characters, and I didn't care what happened to them. The blurb on the book led me to believe that there would be a lot of suspense in this book, and to me, there was none. I honestly was bored throughout most of it, and there were a number of times I almost walked away from it and marked it as DNF. Additionally, I've see other reviewers mentioning that they felt it was fast-paced, and I didn't feel the same way. It could be because I was so bored, but I felt like the story dragged on, and considering the book was less than 300 pages, that's not a great thing. I can't say I'd recommend this book, though the book has decent reviews, so I'm clearly in the minority here. I have a few other books by Sheryl Browne on my list, and I'll have to do some more research to decide if I still want to read them. The one thing I will give her is that she's a fine writer. I had no issue with her writing, just issue with the way it was executed, the end was so bad, and the story-line itself was unbelievable.
A really enjoyable read. Claire is married to Luke - they have a 4 year old daughter, Ella. Yet, the marriage is not in the greatest place. Claire's family now lives with her dad who has vascular dementia. This has put a strain on Claire, who quit her job to take care of her dad. Also, on Luke - who lives in a less then perfect situation. Luke increasingly goes out to the pub to avoid it all, but he loves Claire and his daughter. Luke meets Anna when he "rescues" her from her ex-boyfriend at the pub. They do not become intimate ; however; she becomes obsessed with Luke. A very hurt Claire is angry with Luke and his "friendship" with Anna. He is forced to stay with Steve, his boss on the construction crew. In the meantime, Claire finds out she may have a half-sister and is intrigued enough to plan a visit. This, after Claire sadly realizes that she has to admit her dad to a live-in care facility. And that she probably has lost Luke, as well. On her way to meet Sophie, Claire receives a call from Luke... A superb story with great character development and style. HIGHLY recommend this to all! Many Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley!
Im a big fan of Sheryl Browne and her books are always dark and twisted. This one was good and held my attention until the very end. although I guessed the twist a third of the way through, it was still enjoyable to read the way some characters will do anything for revenge. Ruined lives fall to the wayside when the secrets are in the open.
